Hyperhidrosis Surgery…The Last Resort For Curing Excessive Sweating
Hyperhidrosis Surgery Has Lots Of Complications And Risk. Please Proceed With Caution.
Surgery should be the last card you play when it comes to curing your sweaty armpits and hyperhidrosis.
There are a lot of complications and it’s pretty risky. I’ve heard a lot of horror stories. Compensatory sweating–which is sweating in other places to compensate–is pretty common. A lot of times, people report that they regret getting the surgery in the first place because the compensatory sweating is worse than what they had in the first place.
It may seem like the easy way out, but it’s not. Please proceed with caution and professional medical advice.
Your health insurance may pay for the procedure. I can tell you from personal experience that the insurance company will require proof that you have tried everything else before shelling out the dough for surgery.
I know this because, at first, I wanted to take the easy way out. So, the first thing I looked into was the cost of the surgery.
When I found out it would cost $6,000 or more, I called my insurance company. They required doctor’s notes stating that nothing else (drysol, rubinol, botox, etc.) worked. That’s when my doctor gave me Rubinol and Drysol.
Boy am I glad my insurance company wouldn’t let me get the surgery right off the bat.
I was able to cure myself without having to pay the cost, or recover from the surgery. But, if you’ve already tried everything else and are still sweating, you may want to start researching hyperhidrosis surgery as an option.
Different Kinds of Surgery For Hyperhidrosis
There are several different types surgeries for hyperhidrosis.
Endoscopic Thoracic Sympathectomy (ETS). This may also be referred to as the “clamping method.” You will see why as you continue to read about it.
Retrodermal Curettage. This is a newer procedure that has fewer complications. Also, it is performed exclusively for sweaty armpits and has a better success rate.
Liposuction. This is simply sucking out some of the sweat glands in the underarm area. It is less expensive and invasive than the other surgeries. Sometimes the sweat glands regenerate themselves and the problem recurs.
If you suffer only from sweaty armpits and not any other type of hyperhidrosis, consider retrodermal curettage more closely than ETS.

We don’t really recommend surgery. It’s dangerous. And why do it if there are ways to cure excessive sweating without surgery? Proceed with caution.
